I was so happy to see Karina Rykman open the show for Pigeons Playing Ping Pong the other night at the Capitol Theater in New York.

Rykman is one of the best bass players out there and her style of playing and magnetic stage presence makes it hard to take your eyes off her.  A typhoon of energy and charisma, she’s a non stop performer with exhaustive onstage athleticism and personality to burn.

Lately she’s been sitting in with the 8G Houseband on “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” so one thing is for certain: Karina Rykman is busy.

Not too busy, however, to play a riveting 10-song set that included songs from her new Trey Anastasio-produced album Joyride along with others.

My personal favorites were “All That You Wanted” and “City Kids,” but who am I kidding? I loved every second!
