Some delightful and exciting music news hit yesterday for #NewMusicTuesday (amid an already-saturated market).
Super UK-located group Piroshka are back with their second album, Love Drips and Gathers, come July 23rd. The highly anticipated LP will be released by the notable Bella Union record label.
Followers of core members of Miki Berenyi (Lush), KJ McKillop (Moose of… Moose), Mick Conroy (Modern English), and Justin Welch (Elastica), as well as fans of dreampop and indie rock in general are rejoicing at Piroshka’s return.
The outfit’s first album, 2019’s Brickbat, struck the target dead-center with melodic pop and rock compositions with occasional symphonic touches, and always with timely and serious lyrics.
Love Drips and Gathers aims to achieve the same effect based on catchy, yet thoughtful lead single “Scratching At The Lid.” The stylistically hybrid track, which mixes indie pop and rock (the dreamy with the gritty), dropped on all platforms yesterday, including an accompanying storytelling music video on YouTube.
