We love Chris Simmons.
In fact, the Brighton-based singer-songwriter’s “The Occupant” was Stereo Embers’ Single of the Year back in 2013.
“An atmospheric number that’s as wrenching as it is exquisite,” wrote our very own Alex Green, “this single heralds the arrival of a talent who has all the precision of Neil Finn, the poeticism of Tom McRae and the gritty grace of David Gray.”
That being said, it’s no surprise to us that Simmons has checked in with what could very well be one of the most stirring songs of 2015.
Taken from his upcoming EP, “Rabbit In The Tail Lights” is a dark and brooding number about how difficult it can be in dark times to reach out to people and ask for help.
Accompanied only by light percussion and a gently plucked acoustic guitar, Simmons’ voice has never sounded better.
A spare and downright haunting number that’s emotionally precise and achingly soulful, one begins to wonder if there’s nothing Simmons can’t do.
