On the road to celebrate the 28th year of the release of their landmark debut album Trace, Son Volt stopped by the Fairfield Theatre Company and played the album front to back.
Singer/guitarist Jay Farrar was in fine form, ripping through numbers like “Tear Stained Eye” and “Drown” with timeless rootsy grace.
Drummer Mark Patterson was utterly effortless and former Bottle Rockets guitarist John Horton was the perfect foil for Farrar, playing with dexterity and grace.
To warm things up, Son Volt opened the show with several Doug Sahm tracks, including “Sometimes You’ve Got To Stop Chasing Rainbows” and “Give Back The Keys To My Heart.”
