I would have loved to have attended both shows, but I settled on seeing just the first night of the Tedeschi Trucks Band’s two shows at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater.
It was a marvelous gig and it found the Florida outfit playing a long list of originals like “Devil Be Gone” and “It’s So Heavy.” They also played a series of fabulous covers by Chuck Willis (“I Feel So Bad”), The Allman Brothers Band (“Stand Back”), and Dylan (“Don’t Think Twice It’s All Right”).
Mid-set, opener Steve Winwood came out to jam with the band on a tandem of Sly & The Family Stone Covers (“Sing A Simple Song” and “I Want To Take You Higher”).
The show closed with a cover of Dr. John’s “I Walk On Guilded Splinters” and a blazing version of “Bound For Glory.”
A fabulous night.
