Steve Gunn opened up for Wilco last week at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York and he was terrific.
The Pennsylvania-born singer/songwriter who first showed up on the radar as the guitarist for Kurt Vile’s band The Violators, is now based out of Brooklyn and he’s been quietly crafting a rather brilliant solo career.
Gunn is a prolific musician, releasing two albums in 2015–one with the Black Twig Pickers and another with his pal Vile–and his growing discography reflects an artist who’s really deep in the creative pocket.
Gunn’s set was breezy, thoughtful and stirring and the crowd was transfixed by his smooth and poignant delivery.
Here are some of my favorite shots of the night.
