New band Arktik Lake is actually made up of notable seasoned musicians from around the world.
The international collaboration has released their debut record, Shimmer EP, in early October, along with a captivating music video for the equally appealing, yet bittersweet track “Promises We Made.”
Connecting with each other from Sydney, Australia, Cornwall, England, and Porto, Portugal, Marty Willson-Piper (The Church, All About Eve, Noctorum, and sooo many more bands/projects), Tony Rumble, DC, Nigel Macara, and Olivia Willson-Piper have crafted a winning EP of indie psych-touched jangle pop songs.
Marty Willson-Piper’s ruminative vocals and acclaimed chiming to psych-tinged guitar-work flow through “Promises We Made,” with additional buoyant guitar from Rumble, bass line undertow from DC, and gently paced drumming courtesy of Macara.
Olivia Willson-Piper features on sweetly sung backing vocals that match Marty Willson-Piper’s duskier delivery perfectly.
The wistful “Promises We Made” is packed with thoughtful and nostalgic lyrics – looking back on long-lasting love that sadly has now gone away.
The music video is filled with dreamy snapshots of the past – photographs and postcards of idyllic times that are no more…
