Station To Station: It’s Springtime For David Bowie In New York City

2018 seems to be the year of David Bowie, at least in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

In honor of the ongoing David Bowie is exhibition at Brooklyn Museum, Spotify and the MTA have created a David Bowie experience at the Broadway-Lafayette Station, replete with Bowie images and quotes on the walls and lyrics on the stairs.

Bowie MetroCards are available from vending machines inside the station, and at the Bleecker Street Station, featuring images of Bowie at the beginning, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, the Thin White Duke and Bowie as a clown from the video for “Ashes to Ashes.”

Later this spring, on Saturday, June 9th, at 7:00 PM at Central Park Summer Stage, Ensemble LPR will perform Bowie’s Blackstar with Evan Ziporyn/Donny McCaslin Group. A star-studded orchestra arranged by Evan Ziporyn will perform the album in full, along with a special performance by the Donny McCaslin Group, whose ensemble worked with Bowie on Blackstar.

The Bowie station domination ends on May 13th, while David Bowie is concludes July 15th.
