Ripe played the Brooklyn Bowl the other night and they were one of the best live bands I’ve seen in a while.
Led by the wildly charismatic singer Robbie Wulfsohn, this seven-piece Boston outfit’s set was joyous blend of funk, soul and R&B, played with the kind of musical momentum that brings to mind everyone from James Brown to Fishbone.
Wulfsohn was in perfect sync with his band and he is one of the most dynamic performers around. He whirled around, he lost a shoe and he smiled through the whole thing.
Oh, and there were balloons.
A true blast of energy and heart.
