264 Records, a music label based in Dubai, UAE is focused on releasing local and international talent that aligns with its founders’ vision to build a connected, music-based community that spans the globe. 264 Records’ missions is to embrace diverse musical cultures and encourage everyone to the same. The goal is to unite the musical scenes of the Middle East, Asia, and beyond in order to undo the cultural damage that fundamentalist governments have imposed on many regions of the world.
The label’s debut release was the album Late Future Calls from Tunisian producer Aeli and now comes the second offering, Diversions 01 by CEE, a jungle-dwelling and jet-setting maverick producer/sound engineer/DJ. The album, which combines CEE’s jungle surroundings and electronic sounds, will see a digital release on August 18th.
With Diversions 01, CEE has created what could be called a bridge between Eastern and Western cultures and electronic and acoustic sonics. The music was produced and recorded at the Dunsun, a jungle eco-resort in Malaysia which has hosted the likes of Modeselektor, Kode9, and Sarah Farina.
CEE has been releasing music for almost two decades under other names like Al-Haca and Bass Sekolah. Diversions 01, released under his own name, shows CEE in another light as he collaborates with other artists like Najwa Mahiaddin, Singaporean Vandetta, Polish-born, Cuba-based Mike Polarny, and NYC’s Solomon Dorsey.
