Pink Talking Fish Live In New York

Written by:

I didn’t know what to expect when Pink Talking Fish took the stage at the Capitol Theatre the other night, but it ended up being one of the most enjoyable live experiences I’ve had in years.

Like their name suggests, the band is a confluence of Pink Floyd, The Talking Heads and Phish and thanks to a guild of truly gifted players, the result is a spellbinding mash-up of musicianship that’s impossible not to love.

Comprised of Eric Gould on bass, Richard James on keyboards, Zack Burwick on drums and Dave Brunyak on guitar, Pink Talking Fish merge in an out of the three bands’ songbooks with the artistic alacrity of true virtuosos and how they seamlessly fuse the seemingly disparate compositions in and out of each other is a wonder to behold.

The night was devoted to a front to back reading of Stop Making Sense and it included a myriad of special guests including the great Leo Nocentelli of The Meters on guitar, the Turkuaz Horns, Kung-Fu percussionist Adrian Tramontano, Turkuaz vocalists Sira Elias & Sammi Gaett, Jen Durkin of Deep Banana Blackout and Start Making Sense frontman Jon Braun.

Here are some of my favorite shots from what was truly a special night.
