Pavement will be back next year.
The legendary indie rock band will reunite to celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2020 with two high profile gigs.
Formed in 1989 in Stockton, California, Pavement are considered by many to be one of the most influential bands of the last 50 years. Although they called in quits in 1999, they did reunite ten years later for a successful reunion tour.
Last month singer Stephen Malkmus told Rolling Stone about the idea of a reunion: “Anything’s possible. If there’s interest, then that’s always a factor. If people are really psyched about it, I’d be psyched about it too. So we’ll see.”
The band will be play Primavera Sound Barcelona and NOS Primavera Sound Porto.
“It’s hard to imagine the band won’t play in the United States,” says SEM’s Pavement expert Matt Sloan. “I mean, one never knows with Pavement, but my guess is to expect some domestic dates.”
