Nine Inch Nails’ Not The Actual Events EP Out December 23

Trent Reznor swore new music by Nine Inch Nails would be happening in 2016 and with just days to make good on his promise, the mercurial frontman has done just that.

Nine Inch Nails announced today that a new EP called Not The Actual Events will be out in all formats on December 23.

The follow up to 2013’s Hesitation Marks, Not The Actual Events was described by Reznor in a statement issued earlier today.

“It’s an unfriendly, fairly impenetrable record that we needed to make,” he said. “It’s an EP because that ended up being the proper length to tell that story.”

The EP can be pre-ordered now on NIN’s website.

In other NIN news, Reznor and longtime art director John Crawford are curating definitive editions of all of the band’s landmark releases (Broken, The Downward Spiral, The Fragile).

Reznor also issued a statement about that process: “We want to present the catalog as it was intended to be, with no compromises,” he said. “That means a careful remastering of the audio from the original sources, a painstaking recreation of the artwork, pristine materials, some surprises and an insane attention to detail that you probably won’t notice…but it matters to us. No extra bullshit and gimmicks – the ‘real’ records in their truest form.”
