Los Angeles-residing indie folk singer-songwriter Kyle Britton is set to release his new reflective, emotionally evocative EP, Riddle, on June 10th. Britton was inspired by the journey through a relationship’s demise and its aftermath, as well as the inward path towards understanding the self.
Two story-telling singles have been released; “Riddle”, which picks apart the dissolution of a love affair and the mindset of its protagonists, and “Villain”, where Britton, in dramatic confessional style, reshapes alt-folk structures by employing shivering and sawing classical strings, added vocal harmonies, and his darker vocal power.
Britton is supported by the talented, L.A.-located drummer Kyle Crane (Daniel Lanois, Elle King) and renowned violist Ginny Luke (Rihanna, Dave Matthews Band). Famed engineer Darryl Swann (Macy Gray) was also brought on board to enhance Britton’s naturally warm and expressive vocals.
Conceptual threads about individuality and going against the status quo flow through Britton’s material, possibly the result of him growing up in a military family who had to follow the rules. Riddle is the product of Britton’s childhood dream to release purposeful music and lyrics that dissect the nature of the self and all that relates to it.
