Ted Z and The Wranglers, the Southern California-based, country-rock band with strong Americana influences, stirs it up outlaw-style with a vivid crop of catchy, story-telling songs on its recent album Ghost Train. Lyrically, the band spins absorbing tales of love, loss, regret, the passage of time, and getting in trouble. Sonically, quickly picked, blues-inflected slide guitar lines vie with swinging rhythms, galloping drum beats, and plaintive vocals.
Ted Z and The Wranglers is comprised of Ted Z. (vocals), Jackson Leverone (lead and slide guitars, vocals), Dan Mages (bass), and Mike Myers (drums, vocals) and they raise a rousing ruckus on record and live, currently becoming one of SoCal’s most compelling and requested Americana/Roots Music collectives. The band members have honed their sound on big stages and in biker bars alike and have performed at major music festivals and in cities across the U.S.
Ghost Train came out mid-October on Rip Cat Records. The album was recorded at Yellow Dog Studios in Wimberley, Texas and produced by Monty Byrom (Big House, Eddie Money). Take a gander at the energized, Brian Setzer-like rockabilly of the “Ball and Chain” single off Ghost Train below:
