Exciting news for fans of dreampop and shoegaze (and synthwave and darkgaze) music!
A new supergroup named Beachy Head has emerged from its cocoon, made up of Christian Savill and Rachel Goswell of the venerable Slowdive, Steve Clarke of The Soft Cavalry, Matt Duckworth of The Flaming Lips, and Ryan Graveface.
He of the striking name is the owner of beloved indie label Graveface Records and is also a member of the bands Dreamend and The Casket Girls.
So of course Beachy Head’s new self-titled album will be released via Graveface, on April 30th, which just seems too long to wait, doesn’t it?
The outfit have unveiled one atmospheric dreamwave song from the upcoming LP at their Bandcamp. “Destroy Us” has a bleak streak lyrics-wise, something that continues through the other tracks, but it leavens the unease with glorious vocal harmonies, shining synths buoyancy, giant synths buzz, and a measured drum beat.
