Straight from the ANTI- Records press release, comes word that the renowned k.d. lang has rounded up the super-talented singer-songwriter Neko Case and folk-country artist Laura Veirs for a new music project named case/lang/veirs.
This collaborative effort is unexpected, at least to the listening public, but its seeds were planted several years ago when lang sent emails to Case and Veirs where she stated quite directly that they should all make a record together. While there was mutual admiration between all three musicians, they actually didn’t know each other that well at the time. Lang’s suggestion, however, drew immediate interest from Case and Veirs and the resulting collaboration has borne fruit in the form of a 14-track self-titled album. Case/lang/veirs is slated for release June 17th on ANTI- Records and will be followed up with a slew of tour dates.
The trio has shared its first single, the vocally dreamy, sonically gentle and engaging “Atomic Number”, which you can hear below:
