Justin Townes Earle Dead At 38

Written by:

Singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle has died.

The son of Steve Earle was 38.

Details are few, but on his official Facebook page, a posting read: “It is with tremendous sadness that we inform you of the passing of our son, husband, father and friend Justin. So many of you have relied on his music and lyrics over the years and we hope that his music will continue to guide you on your journeys. You will be missed dearly Justin.”

The Nashville-born musician got his start playing in local bands like the Distributors and The Swindlers.

His own debut came almost fifteen years ago in the form of an EP called Yuma.

Since then he’s released nearly ten albums, with his most recent effort being 2019’s The Saint of Lost Causes.

Over the course of his career he packed his CV with an endless string of highlights. Here’s just a few: he shared a stage with Guy Clark, produced an album for Wanda Jackson, appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman, and won Song of the Year at the 2011 Americana Honors & Awards.

He is survived by his wife and young daughter.
