The Growlers Live At The Brooklyn Bowl

Written by:

I caught the Growlers on the first of their three night stand at the Brooklyn Bowl the other night (Sept 27) and it was quite a show.

The beloved Southern Californian outfit played a thrilling blend of garage rock, dark surf and whirling psychedelia to a packed house that was held in rapt attention.

The band’s set was tight and focused and singer Brooks Nielsen, who commanded the stage with a scruffy charisma and floppy charm, proved why he’s one of the most dynamic frontmen in the business.

Still touring behind 2016’s winning effort City Club, the band sounded crisp and fluid, making crowd-pleasing numbers like “Naked Kids” and “Feelin’ Good” crackle with unbridled energy.
