SEM’s Brett Widmann got a chance to catch Gorillaz the other night (July 8) at the Huntington Bank Pavilion and he came back with a handful of great pictures.

It was the first night of the band’s Humanz tour in Chicago and Brett tells us it was quite a show.

Filled with beaming lights, dizzying screen-projected images and a flurry of musical guests, including Del Tha Funky Homosapien, the band played an extensive and artistic set.

As an opening salvo, singer Damon Albarn told the crowd: “Now listen, I know we haven’t been here for a while, but it is Saturday night in Chicago with a full moon.”

And then he added: “It’s fucking beautiful!”
