Exclusive Album Premiere: Simon Bromide’s “Following The Moon”

Written by:

Don’t put a button on your Best of 2021 list yet, because an album is about to sneak under the December wire that could very well secure the top spot.

The debut album from Bromide frontman Simon Bromide (Simon Berridge) is out Friday (12/10) and not only is it impossibly catchy, it’s one of the most literate and affecting albums in recent memory.

Titled Following The Moon, Bromide’s debut brings to mind everyone from the Trashcan Sinatras to Ray Davies and his storytelling skills and melodic acumen combine to make this record pretty hard to beat.

Recorded at Bark Studios in Walthamstow by Brian O’Shaughnessy (Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine), Following The Moon is a pop clinic that’s as wistful as it is joyful. Filled with numbers like the Kinksian opener “The Waiting Room” and the jangly pop of “Not That Type,” Bromide’s first solo album is an instant classic.
