Gathering his close musical pals, Troy Andrews–whose stage name is Trombone Shorty–has been touring the country this summer under the banner of the Voodoo Threauxdown.
That name is no understatement and their show at Central Park Stage (8/8) proved it.
Featuring Galactic, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and New Breed Brass Band and featuring special guests like Cyril Neville, Kermit Ruffins and Walter “Wolfman” Washington, the New Orleans-born Andrews has put together a kind of jazz version of The Rolling Thunder Revue.
This fall, the Voodoo Threauxdown hits the west coast with dates set for Oregon, Washington, Montana, Utah, California, Arizona and New Mexico.
In other Trombone Shorty news, the bandleader will be on PBS’s Austin City Limits in September.
