I’ve maintained for years that St. Paul and the Broken Bones are one of the best live acts around.
The eight-piece Birmingham outfit were in fine form at the Capitol Theatre the other night on a stop on their “Angels In Science Fiction Tour.”
Singer Paul Janeway’s delivery is a soulful blast of pure joy and he’s truly one of those frontmen you can’t take your eyes off of: the guy radiates charisma.
“Grass Is Greener” and “Half The City” were just perfect and guitarist (Browan Lollar), bassist Jesse Phillips and drummer Kevin Leon form one of the best rhythm sections in the business.
Meanwhile, organist Al Gamble, trumpeter Allen Branstetter, sax player Amari Ansari and trombonist Chad Fisher played with swagger and heart.
The show was a blast. I love this band.
