As as Father’s Day gift to myself, I spent Sunday night at the Fairfield Theatre Company with one of my favorite musicians, Anders Osborne playing a rare solo acoustic set.
As always, Anders’ master guitar work and amazing songwriting was just incredible and his easy, fun banter with the audience, really lifted my spirits. In these troubled times, a solo AO show was just what the doctor ordered to get my mind off things.
His set spanned several of his albums and his commanding presence had the sold out/standing-room-only crowd completely captivated. On the quieter songs you could hear a pin drop in the room and on the more rocking numbers he had everyone up on their feet.
At one point, he invited the opener–Boston singer/songwriter Jay Psaros (who was excellent)–up to join him on a few songs including a cover of “Friend of the Devil” which was fabulous.
