In the midst of a highly anticipated 2021 tour which saw them play three nights in Vegas and Denver, Ween hit the stage at Oakland’s historic Fox Theatre on November 4th and 5th.
The eccentric band showed right off the bat why fans are so passionate about their live performances.
Long expanded into a full band, the at one-time duo of Gene (Aaron Freeman) and Dean (Mickey Melchiondo) were joined on stage by Claude Coleman Jr, Dave Dreiwitz and Glenn McClelland. The band ripped through 61 different songs over both nights, rattling off hits and obscurities from their prolific B-side catalog. For most die hards it’s the chance to see a rarity from a Ween bootleg tape that is the most enchanting prospect of a Ween show.
They wouldn’t have been disappointed on Friday night when Ween played “Vallejo” live for the first time in 20 years. It was very brown.
