The legendary Buddy Guy took the stage at New York’s Capitol Theatre the other night to help his pal Jeff Beck kick off his Loud Hailer tour.
Looking fit and happy, the 79-year-old Guy played an inspired nine-song set of sheer bluesy grace. Wearing a white hat and tennis shoes, Guy dug in early on “Damn Right I’ve Got The Blues” and from there played numbers by John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon and Little Willie John. He even threw in Hendrix’s “Foxy Lady” during his take on Dixon’s “I Just Want To Make Love To You.’
Guy is the real deal. He a peerless player who is equal parts elegance and muscle.
And he was something else to watch.
