The Wailers played the Brooklyn Bowl the other night and they were fabulous.
The legendary reggae band, which was originally started by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston, has had several iterations over the years and now features bassist Aston “Family Man” Barrett, drummer Aston Barrett Jr., guitarists Junior Marvin, Donald Kinsey and Owen “Dreadie” Reid, singer Josh David Barrett, keyboardist Javaughn Bond and singer Shema McGregor.
Marley’s spirit lives on through the Wailers, who played buoyant and faithful versions of the late singer’s back catalog. “Could You Be Loved,” “Three Little Birds” and “One Love” were especially marvelous.
It was a night of pure, old school reggae bliss.
