A trailer for the upcoming BBC documentary on XTC has leaked.
Logging in at nearly 6 minutes, the trailer features extensive chats with singer/songwriter Andy Partridge, as well as the reclusive Colin Moulding, former members Terry Chambers and Dave Gregory, The Police’s Stewart Copeland and actor/comedian Harry Shearer.
The only former band member who doesn’t appear is Barry Andrews.
The movie contains live footage, video clips and biographical band episodes re-enacted with bespectacled potatoes and action figures.
Set to air on BBC4, “This Is Pop” traces the legendary Swindon band’s early years, their decision to stop touring and their late career triumphs.
It also covers the dissolution of Partridge and Moulding’s working relationship as well as Partridge’s reconciliation with Gregory.
The name of the documentary comes from the title of a 1978 XTC composition of the same name.
Here’s what Partridge had to say about the whole affair via Twitter:
My God, just saw the trailer for this forthcoming doc…I am one fat, bald fuck.
It's official.Ah well, I know how it pans out.

Ideally, I would have wanted 4 teenage Japanese girls to play XTC, and it all take place in the Japanese equivalent of Swindon. Subtitles

Really, XTC was all about the music. A blank screen for an hour would be the best visual.
