SHAZ is not hard to look at.

Her full lips, her golden skin and her eyes as bright as blades, SHAZ has the kind of face you could study for hours. Its symmetry, its complexity, and its sheer artistic beauty are qualities that would make any painter grab their brushes, any photographer get behind the lens and any songwriter pick up the guitar and write a song about what’s just happened to their heart.

She’s that lovely, yes.

But, in spite of her obvious physical genetic blessings, SHAZ can also sing.

And she sings mightily.

The Irish-born singer’s new single finds her stepping away from her former bands (Wonderland, The Beau Motives) and striking out on her own as a solo artist.

“Everything To Me,” which is the first single from her upcoming EP, is a wrenching number that’s loaded with stirring textures and a haunting, mesmerizing arrangement that will knock you sideways.

SHAZ has got everyone from Annie Lennox to Kate Bush residing in her voice and the close-up nature of the clip brings to mind the vulnerability of Sinéad O’Connors’ take on “Nothing Compares 2 U.”

A rush of quiet intensity, “Everything To Me” gathers like a tempest and soars mightily before delivering its crushing, soul-stirring crescendo.

This is an open wound of a song and it’s a straight up stunner

Thank you for letting us know how pretty she is! It really makes sense for 50% of a review to be made up of whether a singer is pretty or not. and, Mirabile Dictu, she can sing in spite of being pretty!
It’s a relevant discussion point for a medium primarily composed of sound.

More to the point, the review is in reference to the video clip, which is a protracted close up of her face. Of course being pretty has nothing to do with the quality of one’s voice–nothing at all. But in this case, the directorial choice of the video, much like Sinead’s Nothing Compares 2 U certainly is meant to underscore her obvious physical beauty. And because we have the video here and not just the audio, the review is meant to mirror what you see in the clip.
