Tom Wilkinson Dead At 75

The critically-acclaimed and highly-decorated British actor Tom Wilkinson has died.

The Yorkshire-born Wilkinson was 75.

As of now the cause of death hasn’t been revealed, but sources say Wilkinson died suddenly at his North London home.

Wilkinson’s publicist Nancy Seltzer issued the following statement: “It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Wilkinson announce that he died suddenly at home on December 30. His wife and family were with him. The family asks for privacy at this time.”

George Clooney, who starred with Wilkinson in Michael Clayton, sent the following tribute to CNN: “Tom made every project better. Made every actor better. He was the epitome of elegance and he will be dearly missed by all of us.”

Educated at the University of Kent at Canterbury and The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, over the course of his winning career, Wilkinson received an Emmy, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and two Academy Award nominations.

An actor of tremendous versatility, Wilkinson appeared in over 100 films and television programs. He appeared in In The Bedroom, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Michael Clayton, The Full Monty and The Grand Budapest Hotel.

In 2001, Wilkinson received a Doctor of Letters honorary degree from his alma mater the University of Kent and four years later in 2005 he was appointed Officer Of The Order of the British Empire.

He is survived by his wife, the actress Diana Hardcastle, and two daughters.
