The Verlaines have announced Ready To Fly will be released on vinyl for the first time.

Led by singer/songwriter Graeme Downes, the legendary New Zealand band’s 1991 effort was their first for Slash after leaving Flying Nun. Boasting numbers like “Gloom Junky” and “War In My Head,” the album was the Dunedin outfit’s fourth effort and the follow up to 1989’s Some Disenchanted Evening.

Recorded in Sydney, Ready To Fly was never available on vinyl, but for Record Store Day the album will be pressed on Blue Jay Opaque colored vinyl for a limited edition 500 copy run.

The album was remastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios.

On social media, the band wrote of the upcoming release: “It’s our pleasure to tell you that this will be available for the first time on vinyl.”
