Perry Bamonte, who played guitar and keyboards for The Cure has died.
Bamonte was 65.
Although little is known about Bamonte’s death, it has been reported that he died at home after what’s being described as a brief illness.
The London-born musician’s brother Daryl was the tour manager for The Cure and through him Perry joined the road crew for the legendary band.
He went on to be a guitar tech as well as an assistant to Robert Smith, before joining the band full-time in 1990.
A talented keyboardist, guitarist and bassist, Bamonte first appeared on the 1992 album Wish and played with The Cure until 2005.
He rejoined the band in 2022.
During his time away from The Cure, he played in Love Amongst Ruin with Placebo’s Steve Hewitt and devoted his free time to fly fishing and contributing illustrations to Fly Culture magazine.
