The Cure’s Hyde Park Concert Film Trailer Released

Written by:

The trailer for the upcoming Cure concert film The Cure: Anniversary 1978-2018 Live In Hyde Park, London is out now.

Directed by Tim Pope, the film will be in theaters July 11, but until then, the :057 trailer will have to tide fans over. A thrilling mix of “Boys Don’t Cry” interspersed with “Lovesong,” the trailer perfectly captures the atmosphere of the now legendary performance.

SEM’s Leif Gaslow was there and he wrote: “The heat was sweltering, the show was sold-out, and as the sun set the band was in total control of every moment. Somehow, in front of a crowd of almost 70,000 people The Cure made such a massive setting feel incredibly intimate. For those of us who spent years listening to The Cure in the dark, the irony of it still being light outside was not lost on Robert Smith. ‘I can’t really talk until the sun goes down,’ he confessed.”

He went on to write: “With the shadows darkening each second, Smith and his band tore through their discography with energy and heart.”

Pope’s film captures the band in what he calls “glorious 4K,” resolution and the audio mix was done by Robert Smith and producer Paul Corkett (The Chameleons, Adorable). Corkett also is known  for engineering The Cure’s Wild Mood Swings and then producing the band’s Bloodflowers album.
