The Christians’ Lionel Duke Recovering After Onstage Heart Attack

Lionel Duke is on the mend.

The drummer of the Liverpool outfit The Christians, Duke collapsed onstage this past Sunday (6/22) when the band were opening for Sting at the Waterfront festival at Liverpool’s Pier Head.

Two songs into their set, the 58-year-old Duke suffered the medical incident. Help came quickly for Duke who was tended to under a quickly constructed privacy tent. He was then taken to the hospital where he underwent a procedure and was placed in a medically induced coma.

On social media the band thanked the “phenomenal team of medics” and praised them for stepping in “..so swiftly to help our poor Lionel.”

The shot was accompanied by the caption: “Look who I found in intensive care. Miracles do happen… Lionel, we love you, man.”

The first five singles from The Christians’ 1987 self-titled debut all hit the top forty and the album sold over a million copies

The band’s last album is 2015’s We.
