On the subject of retirement, Marcus Aurelius once warned, “Days are numbered. Use them to throw open the windows of your soul to the sun. If you do not, the sun will soon set, and you with it.”
The B-52s were ready to fade with the setting sun, but the legendary Georgia band have decided they aren’t quite done throwing open the windows of their groovy souls, after all.
The presumed retired outfit have announced they will play Oakland’s Mosswood Meltdown this summer, eschewing the seeming finality of their 2022 farewell tour.
The annual John Waters-hosted event, which will take place July 6-7, will also feature Redd Kross, Hunx and his Punx, Pansy Division, Trap Girl, Bush Tetras and Gibby Haynes of the Butthole Surfers.
In a press release, Waters quipped: “It’s musical mayhem time for multiple maniacs in Oakland once again, and I’m proud to be hosting from the gutter for the tenth time!” Waters said in a statement.
