The iconic singer and guitar player of legendary N.Y. punks The Heartbreakers, Walter Lure is back after 25 years with a new album on Cleopatra Records.
Walter Lure & The Waldos released the Wacka Lacka Boom Bop A Loom Bam Boo LP last month, and it’s 12 songs of old school punk attitude, sheer sonic power and original N.Y. sleaze.
This album is comprised of 12 bullets that fire rude, fast, and with pure punk velocity. From the 101ers to GBH, and from The Heartbreakers to Fugazi, Lure is like an old friend we can trust, a real wolf from the scene who survived the screaming times of the punk movement. Lure’s CV is deeply impressive–he was in the Heartbreakers with Johnny Thunders, he played on three Ramones albums, and later formed The Blessed, The Hurricanes, and The Heroes before ultimately founding The Waldos.
“Crazy Kids,” is a scorching blast of howling punk rock bliss and it’s not only the album’s latest single, it will also be featured in the forthcoming full-length film Thunders: Room 37, which dramatizes the final days of Lure’s former bandmate Johnny Thunders. The full-length feature also will have new tunes, as well as killer new versions of Heartbreakers’ classics like “London Boys” and “Take A Chance On Me.”
In other news, Lure appeared on a recent episode of Stereo Embers: The Podcast.
