Scotland’s legendary band The Jasmine Minks released their new “Step by Step” b/w “Gravity” 7′” single, via A Turntable Friend Records in March, both digitally and on blue vinyl in a cardboard sleeve, with distribution worldwide by SRD Southern Record Distributors.
The ‘Minks were the first band signed to Alan McGee’s Creation Records and Welsh giants The Manic Street Preachers got their name from the band’s debut album 1234567 All Good Preachers Go To Heaven. The Aberdeen outfit have almost the same line-up as on their very first recordings: Jim Shepherd, Martin Keena, Walter ‘Wattie’ Duncan, Tom Reid and former Television Personalities keyboardist Dave Musker.
Recorded with producer Pat Collier at his Perry Vale Studios in London, the result is a fantastic double A-side release which is reminiscent of the ‘Minks’ glory days and it all sounds as if time hasn’t had any effect on the band at all–they sound as vital and as fresh as ever. “Step By Step” boasts an uptempo jingle-jangle harmony with a ’60s-oriented chorus (written by Tom Reid). It’s catchy, melodic and positively irresistible.
Keep Up With The Jasmine Minks
