Today’s Track of the Day comes from the four-piece British-American collective, The Earlies, and is their first new release in eight years.
Cinematic, moving, and melodic, “Abandon” (which you can download for free here) is taken from the The Earlies’ forthcoming Message From Home EP and sounds like a dreamworld where Ennio Morricone, Pet Sounds, psychedelia, electronica, and shoegaze meet.
More, “Abandon” demonstrates that band members singer Brandon Carr, programmer John Mark Lapham, keyboardist Christian Madden, and programmer Giles Hatton have lost none of the creative spark that made their LPs These Were the Earlies (2005) and The Enemy Chorus (2007) such classics.
The Earlies will headline Clitheroe’s Cloudspotting Festival and play four other UK dates at the end of July.
24 – Glasgow, Drygate Theatre
25 – Lancashire, Cloudspotting Festival (headline artist)
28 – Bristol, Exchange
29 – Manchester, Band on the Wall
31 – London, The Shacklewell Arms
Stay tuned to SEM next week for an exclusive interview with Lapham.
