Our Track of the Day today comes from Ireland’s Telefís.
Consisting of Cathal Coughlan (Microdisney, Fatima Mansions) and composer/mixer/producer Jacknife Lee (U2, R.E.M.), the duo’s “Ballytransnational” is taken from their upcoming a hAon album.
Putting it simply, “Ballytransnational” is one of the catchiest numbers of the year. Buoyed by the subversive refrain of “You’re never going back,” the song is a stinging mix of melodic electro-funk and pulsing post-punk rhythms.
Coughlan’s voice floats over the textured grooves with moody authority while under his distinctive delivery the beats rise, fall and pulse mightily away.
a hAon will be out March 4th on Dimple Discs.
