We don’t often lean toward folk for our TOTD but when a voice emerges with a clarity and purpose that places it midway between a spectrum with Laura Gibson on one end and Joni Mitchell on the other, we can’t help but sit up and listen, arrested, enthralled. The Joni comparison is perhaps apt in that The Weather Station is the working name of Canadian singer-songwriter Tamara Linderman, though she comes out of Toronto and not the middle of Alberta. Having had a series of quietly acclaimed releases appear on You’ve Changed Records, her new album Loyalty, from which “Shy Women,” arrives May 12th on Paradise of Bachelors.
