Breaking a ten-year silence, singer/songwriter Shawn Brown is back.

The Portland-based musician’s new EP is called Angel of Oakland and the title cut is our Track of the Day.

Filled with poise and groove and set against irresistibly rolling acoustic guitars, “Angel Of Oakland” is both a love letter and an elegy for the east side city. An aching mix of indie folk and streetwise soul, Brown captains the ship the way he always has—with wisdom, grace and a watchful eye on both the future and the past.

Enlisting longtime bandmate Rafa Lima, as well as Grecco Buratto (Shakira, Gwen Stefani, Pink) and Brendan Buckley (Shakira, Perry Farrell, Tegan and Sara), Brown sounds as invigorated as ever and his new work only builds on his already winning songbook.
