OK, so sometimes it takes us a while to catch up. But the important thing is, we do, and we’re doing that now with Stealing Sheep, the Liverpudlian trio that appeared with such shocking clarity in 2012 thanks to debut Into The Diamond Sun, with which they rather inadvertently found themselves in the avant-garde of the ‘pagan pop revival.’ Whereas we’re not at all sure about that, we are sure that the band – Becky Hawley, Emily Lansley and Lucy Mercer – are preternaturally inclined toward creating bright, honest, intelligently-crafted material that turned our heads last week even before we saw this starkly inventive, vividly polychromatic video. Not that we’re alone. They’ve already opened for St Vincent, Postal Service, and Alt-J. Their second – self-produced – album, from which this is the title track, arrives April 12th via Heavenly.
