Stereo Embers’ TRACK OF THE DAY: HOLYGRAM’S “A Fraction”

Written by:

The days are approaching fast and steady for one of the most long-awaited debut LPs of the year, if not the decade my friends.

It is HOLYGRAM‘s Modern Cults LP which releases on November 9 by SPV/Oblivion in Europe and Cleopatra Records in North America,.

The Cologne outfit started to build their outstanding reputation back in 2016’s thanks to their self-titled EP, which literally took all the dedicated radio stations and clubs by storm, gifting us a striking record that included 3 super-charged hits (“Daria”, “Acceleration,” “Hideaway”).

As you well guess, the German five-piece performed live a lot after that, and were recently accompanied by British synthpop legends OMD on their 2017 European tour along with playing numerous festivals, including Mailfeld Derby, Wave-Gotik-Treffen and New Waves Day.

I am absolutely thrilled with this album because it includes 11 masterful tracks that find the band blending their post-punk roots with the essence of modern darkwave.  HOLYGRAM are considered one of the edgiest acts in Europe and actually the justified frenzy toward them has a pretty grounded background. Their first EP was as I said a striking little record which unveiled a wealth of original talent, and as we all hoped and dreamed, their expected new album, which boasts fantastic production, is beyond expectations. Quite simply, it’s an outstanding record.

The second single following last month’s “Signals” is called “A Fraction” and in just 4:36 you’ll find everything this article is talking about.

Turn up the volume and enjoy!

HOLYGRAM  are visiting Los Angeles for a release show on November 14 at The Viper Room and then…
