Our Track of the Day today comes from New York City’s Holy Ghost!
The band’s new single “Crime Cutz” opens with a dark, throbbing beat, but that beat breaks open soon enough and the song turns into one of the catchiest blasts of indie rock disco you’ll ever hear.
A nearly eight-minute offering, the track is taken from the upcoming Crime Cutz EP (April 29) and marks the duo’s first new music since 2013’s Dynamics.
Comprised of Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel, the band’s approach to recording remains as organic as ever–they record live drums over their tracks to give each cut more movement and velocity.
“Crime Cutz” is a perfect example of that strategy paying off–there’s an augmented percussive texture to the song that gives it a beat-laden immediacy and a deep, swelling groove.
Enjoy!
