Finally and definitively answering all the rumor-swirling “Is they is or is they ain’t?” that’s been going on for months now, Blur present the first track off their upcoming, first-in-twelve years album The Magic Whip, recorded in Hong Kong and elsewhere and hitting the streets and digital byways April 27th. Hurling some elements of psych guitar madness into the grown-up post-Britpop stew, the band sound revitalized and not a little frolicsome, especially considering the level of secrecy they’ve managed to maintain around this whole business over the past eighteen months or so. Sounding confident and up for it, and with Stephen Street in on the shenanigans, we here at SEM find ourselves positively giddy at the prospect of the new LP. For now, though, we’ll gobble up whatever tasters the band cares to serve up.
