Dark and breezy, “Into Thin Air” brings to mind the Ocean Rain-era Echo and the Bunnymen and the jangling mystery of early R.E.M.

Consisting of husband-wife duo Paul Gleason (vocals) and Katie Gleason (keyboards, programming) and rounded out by Tom Friedrich on guitar and bass, Cease and Desist are in the process of putting the finishing touches on their debut album. The rest of their work has the same poetic beauty of “Into Thin Air” with Gleason’s serpentine vocals slithering and shining with the same moody intensity as everyone from Ian Curtis to Michael Stipe.
