Dari Maksymova, is the ex-frontwoman (lead vocals, synths, and bass) of the disbanded Ukranian noir garage rock outfit On The Wane. Now an active member of Kyiv’s electronic community Modular Live, she’s released her first single “Samozvantsiy” from her forthcoming EP, which will be under her solo moniker 6TH CROWD.
This is an absolutely deafening turn in her musical course. How many do you know at the front of similar bands who dared to successfully tune their style into something completely different? On The Wane were a stunning garage rock band, while 6TH CROWD is an utterly electronic outfit based on techno music with plenty of electro flashes. Inspired by both instrumental and electronic music, 6TH CROWD combines grooves from the rave dance floors, melancholic ’80s new wave storytelling and alternative pop vocals.
This first single is a groove to the masses and it sounds like a coming-out warning of Maksymova’s new sonic identity as an electronic producer and artist. After her band disbanded, she took an intensive course in electronic music production, run by Kyiv’s techno community Modular Live – and thus was born 6TH CROWD.
This is an absolutely serious electronic track and I can’t wait for that EP to reach my hands.
Check it out!!!
KEEP UP WITH 6TH CROWD
