Tombstones In Their Eyes, the psyched-out garage sailors from L.A., just released their new double A-side single “Shutting Down”/”Take Me Home”, via Send Me Your Head Records.
The band has put out four releases so far since 2015, with three front covers showing their acclaimed vessel. This time around the art was crafted by Trevor Tipton and designed by Steve Gerdes. Tombstones In Their Eyes play music that’s laced with celestial grandeur and a fuzzed-out psychedelic majesty, and the two mid-tempo numbers here are no exception.
“Shutting Down” is a psychedelic tempest of electric blur and salty guitars, while “Take Me Home” is filled with wishful riffing and psychedelic vocals that, powered by a shoegazing wind, glides the listener through sunsets and dawns. The arrangement of the song is emblematic of what Tombstones In Their Eyes do best and the music is an enormous whirl on a hard-driven psychedelia sonic storm that benefits from a smooth and cascading mix-down.
