Stereo Embers’ TRACK OF DAY: Rodney Cromwell “Comrades”

Written by:

Comrades: Dedicated to the citizens of the future, says Rodney Cromwell’s Bandcamp page!

This is the first track off his new EP Rodney’s English Disco, which is out via London-based Happy Robots Records. This is electronic music in the vein of Kraftwerk and the infinite sonic heritage of 80’s synthpop. Mr. Cromwell, a.k.a. Adam Cresswell is also a founding member of indie-folktronica band Saloon, created with Moog Rogue, Juno 60, Korg MS-10, Microkorg and Fender precision bass, and drum sounds from the Boss DR-55.

Piloted by robotic grooves and turbocharged minimal-electro sonic engines, “Comrades” is an excellent first taste off his awaited new record which will be released on red vinyl 7”, CD and digitally. Cromwell’s music is minimal and disco-like, with a dedicated eye on synthpop and the warm hum of space-electro wires. The B-side includes a stunning extended mix by synthwave act Vieon who pushes the already astral music to more emotive and spacey realms.

The video for “Comrades” was directed by Dariy Karyakin and starring Irina Gavrilova and Sofia Lukonina.
