So, listen (and, as it happens, I’ve never meant those two words more than I do this time): Some records are meant to be heard – and I mean heard – far far more than they need to be written about, talked about, whatevered about. It’s a sort of ‘needs to be heard to be believed’ proposition, where any words one would throw at it in the context of a review be it in print or a quick recommendation to your best mate simply wither with their inadequacy when held up next to the actual experience of hearing the thing itself. And if any of us here at SEM have ever faced such a prospect, well, it’s paled in comparison to this time. That, umm, said, we’re going to simply tell you the absolute minimum then get the fuck out of the way and let Verrueckt change your life. Duo. German/Italian in the persons of Paul Geigerzaehler (violin, snare drum, vox) and Tony Scafidi (guitar, bass, drum, hi-hat, vox). Self-produced. End of story. Beginning of a new chapter in your listening life. [For further evidence of the immediacy of this record, we’ve tucked a couple videos in the space down below for any of you still harboring the slightest speck of skepticism]
